Tig TereraWriter | Director

Tig Terera is a writer and director who was born in Zimbabwe and raised in Australia. His debut TV series, SWIFT STREET, which he created, co-wrote and co-directed, was funded by SBS and Magpie Pictures and had global entertainment company Fifth Season handling international distribution. A crime drama, SWIFT STREET follows Elsie, who teams up with her old-school hustler father, Robert, in order to save him from a merciless crime boss and free him from debt. The series premiered internationally in competition at Canneseries after being selected as one of only eight global entries in the short-form category, and earned Tig an ADG Award nomination in 2024 for Best Direction of a Miniseries Episode.

Recently, Tig directed episodes for the third season of the award-winning Netflix drama HEARTBREAK HIGH, which is currently in post-production. Additionally, in 2025, Tig attended the Australian International Screen Forum in New York as one of Screen Australia’s Talent USA program recipients.

No stranger to the global stage, Tig’s short drama, TINASHÉ, won a Special Mention award at the 2022 Berlinale in the Generation section, and premiered locally as a finalist for Best Live Action Australian Short at Sydney Film Festival 2021.

With his ear to the streets and his finger on the pulse of Melbourne culture, Tig’s work regularly feature bold individuals within minorities. He has worked on music videos, TVC’s and film projects in London, Paris and Singapore, and is the creator of several short films, including CHENGE, SOLIBET and CHARLOTTE.
