Sotiris Dounoukos is an awarded writer and director. His debut feature, JOE CINQUE’S CONSOLATION (2016), is the screen adaptation of Helen Garner’s book.
The film tells the true story of Anu Singh, who murdered her boyfriend Joe one night after a series of macabre dinner parties.
The film premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival, screened at Thessaloniki, screened in competition at Toronto, and won the Canberra Film Critics’ Award for Best Film.
His short A SINGLE BODY (UN SEUL CORPS) (2014), won the Dendy Best Short Film Award at Sydney Film Festival, Best Film at St Kilda Film Festival and the inaugural Best International Short Film at TIFF.
The screenplay was awarded the Association Beaumarchais’ Script Award for Short Drama.
Sotiris’ shorts have screened at over 180 festivals internationally and have received numerous awards. Past films include MONA LISA (2004) and PAPER AND SAND (2006).
Sotiris is a graduate of the Binger Institute and the VCA School of Film and Television, where he received the Outstanding Postgraduate Student Award.
He is currently in development on several exciting feature and television projects in Greece, Australia and the US.
