Sarah Bishop is a director, writer, actress and producer. She is one third of the comedy trio Skit Box who achieved over 140 million hits online for several viral videos including ACTIVEWEAR. They were named amongst the 10 Australian Female Comedians You Need to Know on MamaMia, and received the Genre Excellence Award for their live show at the 2015 Sydney Comedy Fringe Festival. She is a creator of the sketch comedy TV series WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM with Skit Box, which she co- wrote, co-directed and starred in. The series was an Australian/U.S. co-production for ABC in Australia and NBC Universal’s comedy streaming platform Seeso in the U.S. She starred in KINNE TONIGHT on Channel Ten and her other television credits include BLACK COMEDY & SANDO on ABC and wrote and starred in THE SLOT on Foxtel.
As a writer Sarah wrote for the AACTA-nominated series THE MOTH EFFECT and developed the series POSSE for television.
Most recently Sarah co-directed and performed in the web series DING DONG I’M GAY which has over 4.5 million views.
In 2019 she worked for 3 months on the production OPERATION BUFFALO (previous working title FALLOUT) with Porchlight Films as a Directors Attachment to Peter Duncan.
Aside from her own projects, her directing work includes several TV commercials through Revolver including TVCs for Isowhey starring Celeste Barber, and Tourism Australia starring Luke Hemsworth.
Her comedy training includes undertaking a year-long course at UCB Chicago in 2022, masterclasses with Steve Kaplan as well as studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade (founded by Amy Poehler) in Los Angeles. She has also studied filmmaking under American filmmaker and UCLA teacher Monte Hellman. She is a member of Screen Australia’s Gender Matters Taskforce, was selected as part of the inaugural Screen Australia Talent LA directors delegation in 2017 and recently completed the Accelerator Lab for directors at MIFF.
