Ruth Underwood worked in television drama for over a decade in the UK, before moving to Australia in 2018. Here she has continued her work as a Development Producer, whilst also establishing herself as a writer in her own right. The pilot script of her original six-part drama series is in the process of being optioned.
As a script editor, development producer and story producer, Ruth has worked closely with a number of high-profile writers on their nascent ideas, their scripts and series storylines over the years. She has both run and participated in many writers’ rooms and managed the editorial process of several productions. Her production credits include The Cry (BBC One/ABC), Clique (BBC Three), Stonemouth (BBC One), and Taggart (ITV) among others.
As a development producer for Synchronicity Films, Ruth is working on a number of high-end dramas with international appeal. Among them is the adaptation of international bestseller, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, in which she was integral to securing the rights. She is currently story-lining the 6-part TV drama alongside its screenwriter, Jacquelin Perske.
