Peter Templeman is a writer and director, whose work has been nominated for an Academy Award, BAFTA, and International Emmy. Recently, Peter wrote Episode 4 of THE SURVIVORS (Tony Ayres Productions/Netflix), a limited series adaptation of Jane Harper’s latest novel. In 2025, the series reached #2 on the Netflix global streaming charts, and ranked in the Top 10 in 85 countries, #1 in five countries and Top Five in territories including USA, UK, Canada and Australia. THE SURVIVORS has also been nominated for Best Miniseries at the 2026 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.
Peter is known for his ability to move between genres, from comedy to thriller and dark drama, often striking a delicate balance between. His debut feature NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN (2012) sustained an eight-week run in cinemas. The film received an Australian Writers Guild Award (AWGIE), four AACTA Award nominations and five Film Critics Circle Award nominations. Between 2004 and 2007, Peter’s three short films won thirty-nine festival awards, including an Oscar nomination for THE SAVIOUR (2005).
Peter was the set-up director for the dramedy FIVE BEDROOMS (Paramount Plus) and the crime drama WANTED (7Network/Netflix). On season four of FIVE BEDROOMS, Peter also served as an Executive Producer. He is further credited with directing all six episodes of Rebel Wilson’s cult musical comedy BOGAN PRIDE (SBS).
