Penny Flanagan wrote and created (with her sister, Kitty Flanagan) the hit television series, FISK. The third season of FISK set a new viewing record for ABC iView. The first two seasons were global top 10 hits for Netflix. Penny also wrote (with Kitty) two episodes of the children’s series, DROP DEAD WEIRD (7Plus) and was the head writer for the groundbreaking series about parenting, THE ROLE OF A LIFETIME.
Penny has written two adult and one children’s novel and her short stories have been published in Imago, Meanjin, Picador New Writing and Australian Summer Stories. In 2024 her short story, THE FRUITS OF HIS LABOUR was shortlisted for the Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Writing. In the early ‘90s, Penny Flanagan was one one-half of the critically acclaimed folk-pop duo, Club Hoy. She has released two albums and one EP as a solo artist.
