Michael Lucas is a multi-award-winning screenwriter. He made his debut with the indie feature comedy, NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN (2012), which was selected to open Sydney Film Festival. It was also nominated for five Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards and received an Australian Writers’ Guild (AWGIE) Award for Best Original Feature Film Screenplay.
Moving into television, Michael became a core writer and script producer on the award-winning series OFFSPRING (Network Ten). He wrote 17 episodes across five seasons, winning two AWGIE Awards for Best Television Screenplay.
Michael produced the highly successful series THE NEWSREADER (Werner Film Productions/ABC). THE NEWSREADER has received several AACTA Awards for Best Drama Series, and numerous nominations. THE NEWSREADER also received a TV Week Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Drama Program and was nominated for a Logie for Most Popular Drama Program.
Michael created, wrote, and co-produced the critically acclaimed miniseries PARTY TRICKS (Endemol/Network Ten). He was also a core writer and storyliner on the fourth season of the hit series WENTWORTH (Fremantle Media), for which he was nominated for an AWGIE Award for his episode ‘PLAN BEA.’ Michael was a script editor on ROSEHAVEN (ABC), and wrote for the drama SISTERS (EndemolShine) and two seasons of THE WRONG GIRL (Playmaker Media), for which he was nominated for an AWGIE Award.
Michael has co-created and co-executive produced three seasons of FIVE BEDROOMS (Paramount+/Network Ten), which has received AACTA and AWGIE nominations.
