Kate Cornish is a critically acclaimed, award-winning cinematographer from Sydney, whose work has been featured across Australian television and at festivals nationwide. With work spanning the narrative, factual and short form spaces, Kate is passionate about authentic queer representation in her storytelling and has an intrinsic skill for shooting across genres.
Most recently, Kate shot the smash hit series OPTICS written and created by Vic Zerbst & Jenna Owen (Easy Tiger / ABC) where it currently sits as the 1# viewed program on ABC iView. Kate also shot episodes of the third season of HEARTBREAK HIGH (Fremantle/Netflix). Kate was also the DOP for feature film NUGGET IS DEAD: A CHRISTMAS STORY (Stan/CBS Studios/Easy Tiger). Prior to this, her selection as a recipient of the Screen Australia Credit Maker Initiative secured her a role shooting the anthology series, EROTIC STORIES (Lingo Pictures/SBS). Originally, Kate made her mark shooting comedy, most notably for SBS’s THE FEED where she shot over 150 sketches for television and online. In 2023, Kate was named by Inside Film as a Rising Talent in Cinematography, and was recognised as an emerging talent and named a Canon Australia Ambassador in 2021. The brand subsequently gave Kate a grant to make a film chronicling the untold story of Australia’s Dykes on Bikes. The film was later awarded a Silver by the Australian Cinematographers Society (Documentary) in 2022.
