Karl ZwickyDirector | Producer

Karl Zwicky is a producer and director who was the series producer of LAST KING OF THE CROSS (Paramount+), based on the bestselling book by John Ibrahim. He was also the series producer for the second season of TEN POUND POMS (BBC/Stan). Karl produced both seasons of TROPPO (ABC), and is the co-creator and producer behind BLOOD IN THE SKY (Beyond Entertainment).

Karl is credited as a producer on THE SECRET DAUGHTER (Seven Network), UNDERBELLY FILES: CHOPPER (Screentime), JANET KING (ABC), CROWNIES (ABC) and A MODEL DAUGHTER: THE KILLING OF CAROLINE BYRNE (Screentime/Network Ten). He was the executive and supervising producer on the award-winning MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS (Nine Network), which he also directed.

As a director, Karl’s work traverses adult and children’s drama, live action, and animated feature films. He was lead director on the second series of THE HEIGHTS (ABC), and worked on THE DOCTOR BLAKE MYSTERIES (ABC), HOUSE HUSBANDS (Playmaker/Nine Network), HOME AND AWAY (Seven Network) and FAT TONY & CO (Screentime/Nine Network).

His feature, PAWS (1997), starred Billy Connolly, went on to become a UK theatrical success. VICIOUS (1988), which he co-wrote and directed, was invited to ‘Un Certain Regard’ at the Cannes Film Festival.

Karl has also directed episodes of UNDERBELLY: SQUIZZY (Screentime/Nine Network), as well as US productions FARSCAPE (Jim Henson Company/Hallmark), THE LOST WORD (Coote/Hayes Productions), BEASTMASTER (Coote/Hayes Productions) and SINBAD AND THE MINOTAUR (Limelight International/Syfy).

He also created and directed THE MIRACULOUS MELLOPS (Network Ten) and directed miniseries THE CUT (ABC), as well as episodes of SAM FOX: EXTREME ADVENTURES (SLR Productions/Network Ten), CITY HOMICIDE (Seven Network), POLICE RESCUE (BBC/ABC), FLYING DOCTORS (SLR Productions/Network Ten), K9 (Network Ten), HEARTBREAK HIGH (ABC/BBC), and TRICKY BUSINESS (Screentime/Nine Network).
