Julie De FinaScreenwriter

Julie De Fina is the co-creator, executive producer and writer of both series of the critically acclaimed ABC comedy series Aftertaste, starring Erik Thomson and Rachel Griffiths and produced by Closer Productions. The second season was released in 2022 on ABC, ABC iview and Acorn TV, and was nominated for Best Comedy Program at the 2022 Australian Academy of Cinematic and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, following the first season’s AACTA nomination for Best Narrative Comedy Series in 2021. Aftertaste Season One was also nominated for the TV Week Silver Logie Award for Most Popular Comedy Program.

Julie has worked as a writer and story producer on projects for numerous companies including ABC, Amazon, Jungle Entertainment, Made Up Stories, Essential Media, Fremantle, Bunya, Endemol and TVNZ. Most recently, she served as Executive Producer and writer on the upcoming Australian re-imagining of The Office for Amazon/BBC Studios. In further credits, her comedy pilot “Fully Famous”, which she co-created and wrote, was optioned in 2015 by Kapital Entertainment (Santa Clarita Diet, Divorce, The Inbetweeners), and in 2018 she co-created a half hour comedy “Something Old,” optioned by Kronicle Media.

Julie studied film and theatre at UNSW before continuing her training at The Second City in LA. She is currently in development on a number of projects.
