Hannah Carroll Chapman is a screenwriter and is the creator and writer on HEARTBREAK HIGH (Fremantle/Netflix). HEARTBREAK HIGH was in the global top ten on Netflix for over a month following its release, with the series hitting number one in Australia. Hannah won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Screenplay for her pilot episode of HEARTBREAK HIGH, and was nominated for the Australian Writers’ Guild (AWGIE) Award for Television Series, for the same episode. HEARTBREAK HIGH was also nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Drama Series, Betty Roland Prize for Scriptwriting and won an Audience Choice AACTA Award for Best Television Series.
Hannah wrote for both seasons of the drama series THE HEIGHTS (ABC), for which she was nominated for an AWGIE Award and a Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Award for Best Drama Series. Hannah previously worked as a writer and associate story producer for HOME AND AWAY (7 Network).
Hannah worked in the development team for Matchbox Pictures on their projects including THE SLAP, NOWHERE BOYS, DEADLINE GALLIPOLI, and GLITCH. She also served as a production operator on DOWNTOWN ABBEY, WHITECHAPEL, and THE BORROWERS, whilst working for Carnival Films in London.
Hannah began her career in 3D animation, visual effects and post production. She has a degree in 3D Animation from AFTRS, and has held VFX roles on IRON MAN 2 (2010), TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN (2010) and the doco series FIRST AUSTRALIANS (2008).
