Greg Waters is a writer, script editor and script producer with extensive credits in television drama, comedy and children’s television.
Recently, Greg wrote and script-produced on the drama series LADIES IN BLACK (Bunya Entertainment). He also wrote and script-produced on the hit series THE TWELVE (Easy Tiger Productions/Warner Bros./Foxtel), which took home The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Miniseries.
Greg was a script editor on SURVIVING SUMMER (Werner Film Productions/Netflix), and wrote for NEW GOLD MOUNTAIN (Goalpost/SBS), which received the Australian Writers’ Guild (AWGIE) Award for Best Miniseries.
Greg wrote the award-winning telemovie RIOT (Werner Film Productions/ABC), which was nominated for an AWGIE and NSW Premiers Literary Award. RIOT won an AACTA Award for Best Miniseries or Telefeature.
Greg’s other television credits include THE NEW LEGENDS OF MONKEY (See-Saw/Netflix), SECRET CITY (Matchbox Pictures/Foxtel), THE LETDOWN (Giant Dwarf/ABC), THE OTHER GUY (Aquarius Films/Stan), THE UNLISTED (Aquarius Films/ABC), and SOUL MATES (ABC). Greg was also a script editor on HALAL GURLS (ABC), and READY FOR THIS (Blackfella Films/ABC).
As development manager in the drama department of ABC TV, Greg Waters was a network script executive on RAKE, PAPER GIANTS, CROWNIES, JANET KING, DEVIL’S DUST, THE STRAITS, HIDING, DANGEROUS REMEDY, THE SECRET RIVER, and ANZAC GIRLS. He was also executive producer on AN ACCIDENTAL SOLDIER, and SOUL MATES.
Originally, Greg rose to prominence for his writing on all three seasons of DANCE ACADEMY (Werner Film Productions). Earning Greg an AWGIE Award nomination, DANCE ACADEMY took home multiple international and Australian awards as well.
Greg’s extensive work as a television writer is complemented by his work as a script editor on features including ACCIDENTS HAPPEN (2009) and THE FINAL WINTER (2007), and as a writer of short films THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE (2007), CHARMED ROBBERY (2006) and CLUTCH (2003).
Greg currently has projects in development as writer and script producer.
