Drew English is an award-winning cinematographer renowned for his dynamic visual storytelling and ability to bring ambitious creative concepts to life. Highly sought after in the industry, Drew’s expertise spans high-end drama and comedy, making him a key force behind some of Australia’s most celebrated television productions.

Most recently, he lensed DEADLOCH Season 2 (Guesswork/Amazon Prime) and HEARTBREAK HIGH Season 3 (Fremantle/Netflix), having also been entrusted with shooting the powerful closing episodes of each previous HEARTBREAK HIGH season. His cinematography across all three seasons has been instrumental in the show’s critical success, with HEARTBREAK HIGH winning multiple awards, including an AACTA for Best Drama Series. His work on Season 2 earned him a prestigious Gold ACS Award, further solidifying his reputation as a top-tier cinematographer in the industry.

Drew’s striking visuals can also be seen in PLUM (Roadshow Rough Diamond/ABC), created by Brendan Cowell, as well as THE PM’S DAUGHTER (Fremantle/ABC), MOTHER & SON (Wooden Horse/ABC), EROTIC STORIES (Lingo Pictures/SBS), and APPETITE (SBS), which premiered at Canneseries in 2023. His contributions have helped numerous productions achieve critical acclaim and multiple AACTA nominations, with DEADLOCH and THE PM’S DAUGHTER both receiving significant recognition.

Since 2017, Drew’s artistry has been repeatedly honored by the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS), earning two prestigious Gold Tripod Awards and six Gold ACS Awards—most recently for his work on HEARTBREAK HIGH Season 2. In 2016, he was selected for the esteemed Drew Llewelyn ACS Camerimage Scholarship, taking him to the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland, a premier global event celebrating the craft of cinematography.
