Dave Paterson is a self-taught writer/director whose distinctive voice, unique sense of humour and particular way with dialogue led to his first professional writing assignment with Hopscotch Films/eOne. His unproduced feature script COTTONTAIL, a crime thriller road movie following two cousins who travel to California, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, won the UK Film Festival Best Unproduced Feature Award twice in 2020 and 2016. Dave’s other features include; SWEET MARY LOU, WHAT DID YOU DO? which won Best Feature Script at the 2020 UK Film Festival and THE BLIND SEA, which was awarded the 2020 Shore Script Grand Prize as well as the 2020 Dallas International Film Festival Screenplay Award.

In 2011, his unproduced feature script RATTLE earned him a Bronze Award at the Oregon Film Awards, was shortlisted for the E-Inclusion Award at the European Independent Film Festival and was a finalist for the Screenplay Competition at the Beverly Hills Film Festival the following year.

Dave has written and directed two short films: BUTCHERBIRD, a love story which follows John, an ex-con who falls for an addict and tries to save her; and short documentary, BONÉ, a film about a Newtown man who has spent most of his adult life in jail.

He provided additional writing on Seth Larney’s sci-fi thriller 2067 for Leonie Mansfield and Lisa Shaunessy.
