Daniel Nettheim is an award-winning director of films and TV drama, who divides his time between Australia and the UK. Daniel’s feature THE HUNTER (2011), starring Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. It received worldwide theatrical distribution and screened at dozens of major festivals. The film was nominated for 14 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, including Best Director.

Daniel’s recent work includes directing the crime horror series THE KILLINGS: PARRISH STATION (Helium Pictures/ Stan), slated for release in 2026. He also recently directed three episodes of THE ASSASSIN (All3 Media/Amazon Prime), and CRITICAL INCIDENT (Matchbox Pictures) respectively, the latter of which received a Logie Award nomination for Best Miniseries or Telemovie. He also directed two episodes of the series BOAT STORY (Two Brothers Pictures/BBC).

Daniel was set up director on both the series THE MESSENGER (Lingo Pictures/ABC), and  the legal drama THE TWELVE (Easy Tiger Productions/Foxtel). Daniel was nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Direction for THE TWELVE, with the series nominated for 10 AACTA Awards in total, including Best Miniseries.

 Daniel also directed THE TOURIST (BBC1/Stan/HBO Max), starring Jamie Dornan. THE TOURIST was a huge success domestically and internationally, breaking audience records for the BBC iPlayer. It won Best Series at Monte Carlo TV Festival, was nominated for a TV Week Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Miniseries, and received a nomination for Best Drama Series at the AACTA Awards.

In 2020, Daniel was set up director on the final season of LINE OF DUTY (BBC), which was BBC’s highest rating drama of the past two decades. Daniel’s other UK television work includes BAFTA nominated seasons of DOCTOR WHO (BBC), BROADCHURCH (Kudos Film and Television/ITV), HUMANS (Kudos Film and Television/ITV), RIPPER STREET (BBC), WHITECHAPEL (Carnival Film & Television/ITV), and GLUE (Eleven).

Daniel was set up director on Harlan Coben’s SAFE (Netflix) and directed multiple episodes of the YA fantasy series CURSED (Netflix). Daniel’s US credits include ASH VS. EVIL DEAD (Starz), and HUNTERS (Syfy). In Australia, his other recent credits include the final Logie nominated season of DOCTOR DOCTOR (Easy Tiger Productions/Acorn TV), HARROW (Hoodlum/Hulu), JACK IRISH (ABC), and SECRET CITY (Matchbox Pictures/Netflix).
