Velinda Wardell, A.C.SCinematographer

Since graduating AFTRS with a Masters of Arts in Cinematography, Velinda has led the camera department across a broad range of projects. These include the sci-fi drama short Shift, art house short Cosette, comedy short dik, documentary Kick Like Tayla, the ABC documentary Suicide and Me and SBS series Disco Dykes. Velinda is the Camera Operator on the upcoming film Christmas Ransom for Stan and Every Cloud Productions. Velinda was 2nd Unit Cinematographer and camera operator on the miniseries Bali 2002, released in 2022.

Velinda’s recent television work includes working as Camera Operator on popular Amazon series The Wilds.  Velinda worked alongside Dion Beebe ASC ACS as B Camera Operator on the highly anticipated feature I Am Woman, directed by Unjoo Moon. Velinda also shot ABC drama First Day, which won the inaugural prize for outstanding children’s programming across all genres at the MIPCOM Diversify TV Excellence Awards. The program also won the prestigious Prix Jeunesse Gender Equity Prize in 2019. Velinda’s notable commercial credits include her work on the National Marriage Equality VOTE YES Campaign, featuring legendary Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe.

In 2008, Velinda was the 6th woman to be given the honour of accreditation by the Australian Cinematographer’s Society. Her work has been invited to screen at Camerimage, a festival that celebrates outstanding achievement in cinematography. Other festival screenings include Cinéma des Antipodes Cannes, Shot on Red LA, LA Comedy Festival, Flickerfest, St. Kilda Film Festival, Palm Springs, Berlinale, Clermont- Ferrand and Cleveland International Film Festival.
