Christopher Lee is an award-winning and highly sought-after writer.
His most recent credit was LES NORTON (2019), starring Alexander Bertrand and Rebel Wilson. He wrote and produced ABC’s miniseries FRIDAY ON MY MIND (2017), which follows the rise of rock band The Easybeats during the 1960s, and was nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Miniseries.
Christopher’s other television credits include the miniseries drama, GALLIPOLI (2015) for Endemol/Nine Network, staring Kodi Smit-McPhee and Harry Greenwood; HOWZAT! KERRY PACKER’S WAR (2012) for Nine Network, which won an AACTA Award for Best Telemovie, as well as two TV Logie Awards for Most Popular Miniseries and Most Outstanding Miniseries; PAPER GIANTS: THE BIRTH OF CLEO (2011), a miniseries for ABC, which received the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award, and was nominated for a TV Logie for Most Outstanding Drama Series, Australian Writers’ Guild (AWGIE) for Best Telemovie, and AACTA Award for Best Telemovie.
Christopher is a four-time AWGIE Award winner: for the documentary SATURDAY, SATURDAY (1984); the miniseries DO OR DIE (2001); the pilot episode of THE SECRET LIFE OF US (2000); and for an episode of RUSH (2008-2011), which he co-created and script produced. In 2009, Christopher won the FOXTEL Fellowship of Excellence in Television Writing, and in 2002, he earnt the Centenary Medal for Services to Television.
A former journalist and foreign correspondent, Christopher was creator and writer of the ABC drama series STRINGER (1988), co-writer of BODYSURFER (1989), for which he won an AFI (AACTA) Award for Best Screenplay, and head writer and script executive on POLICE RESCUE (1991-1996). He wrote the SBS teleplay THAT MAN’S FATHER (1990), was co-creator and head writer of the Network Ten series BIG SKY (1999), and co-wrote the ABC telemovie SECRET MEN’S BUSINESS (1999).
