Christiaan is an award-winning director, writer, and actor who has carved an expansive and multi-faceted career.

Most recently, Christiaan directed the upcoming series TOP END BUB for Amazon Prime, episodes of the Australian spin-off of THE OFFICE (2024) for Amazon/BBC, and SURVIVING SUMMER (2023) for Netflix. Christiaan has also directed all episodes of the Catherine Tate series QUEEN OF OZ (2023), produced by Lingo Pictures for BBC1.

Prior to this, Christiaan directed the feature A SUNBURNT CHRISTMAS (2020), which was nominated for two Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, winning the Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Award for Best Telemovie or Miniseries, and the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) Award for Best Direction in a Movie made for TV or SVOD. Christiaan also wrote and directed the AACTA nominated half-hour special DOM AND ADRIAN: 2020 (2020) for Stan.

He was a co-creator, co-writer and lead performer of OVER AND OUT (2019), which won Best Short Form Series at Canneseries and is currently being developed for television. He co-wrote and co-directed LOCATION SCOUTS (2019) for Goalpost Pictures which enjoyed a run of international success, taking home Best Foreign Web Series at Florida Film Festival, Best Web Series at the LA Film Awards, Best Web Series at Top Shorts Film Festival, Best in Show at the IndiFEST Film Awards and Best Web Series at the Global Film Festival Awards.

Christiaan was one of the creators, writers, directors, and stars of the half-hour comedy series SOUL MATES (2016) for ABC and SeeSo. SOULMATES received an ADG Award nomination for Best Direction in a TV or SVOD Comedy Program. Christiaan and his brother Connor won an ADG Award for Best Direction in an Original Online Project for BONDI HIPSTERS (2011).

Christiaan’s many directing credits include SQUINTERS (2019), SANDO (2018) and THE ELEGANT GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO KNIFE FIGHTING (2013). He hosted and co-wrote the feature documentary BIG DEAL (2021) for ABC and Madman, wrote two episodes in season two of See-Saw’s Emmy Award-winning THE NEW LEGENDS OF MONKEY (2020) for Netflix, and co-hosted THE SLOT (2017) for Foxtel.

He is currently developing several projects, including the comedy-horror feature film CROAK with his co-writer/co-director brother Connor, to be produced by Chloe Rickard and Bridget Callow (Jungle). CROAK follows a misfit band of teenagers as they struggle to defeat a giant mutant cane toad plaguing their town, and the corrupt mining company that created it.

In the branded space, Christiaan has written and directed content for Old Spice, Virgin, Vittoria, Sony, Ikea, AMEX, Unilever, Northern Territory Tourism, Tourism Portland, Sydney Airport, and a Cadbury/MTV series that won the Astra Award for Most Outstanding Use of STV in a Consumer Ad Campaign. Christiaan also co-directed Sacha Baron Cohen’s 2021 MTV VMA’s acceptance piece in which Sacha performed as Ali G, Borat, Bruno, The Dictator and himself.

Christiaan’s work online has had over 150 million views including the musical comedy numbers ACTIVEWEAR, A SONG ABOUT BIRDS, THE LIFE ORGANIC, and AUSTRALIA’S DEADLIEST ANIMALS. He has also directed music videos for Tim Minchin, Briggs, and Kate Miller-Heidke.

Christiaan’s career began online creating YouTube videos, before he and his brother Connor won the Grand Jury Prize at the One80Project and created a 60-minute telemovie called SICK (2012), which aired on MTV and earned an ADG Award nomination for Best Direction in a Television Comedy and a development deal with Pivot (USA).

Christiaan’s acting credits include BLOOM (2020), THE OTHER GUY (2019), TOP OF THE LAKE: CHINA GIRL (2017), THREE SUMMERS (2017), STAG (2016), and DOWN UNDER (2016).
