Christiaan is an award-winning director, writer, and actor who has carved out an expansive and multi-faceted career.

Christiaan directed TOP END BUB (Goalpost/Amazon Prime), episodes of the Australian spin-off of THE OFFICE (Amazon/BBC), and SURVIVING SUMMER (Werner/Netflix). Christiaan also directed the Catherine Tate series QUEEN OF OZ (Lingo Pictures/BBC1).

Prior to this, Christiaan directed the feature A SUNBURNT CHRISTMAS (Every Cloud Productions/Stan), which was nominated for two Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, and won the Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Award for Best Telemovie or Miniseries, as well as the Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) Award for Best Direction in a Movie for TV or SVOD.

Christiaan’s other television credits include DOM AND ADRIAN: 2020 (Stan), SOUL MATES (ABC), SQUINTERS (Jungle Entertainment), SANDO (Jungle Entertainment), THE ELEGANT GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO KNIFE FIGHTING (Jungle Entertainment), and THE NEW LEGENDS OF MONKEY (See-Saw/Netflix).

He was a co-creator, co-writer and lead performer of OVER AND OUT (2019), which won Best Short Form Series at Canneseries. He co-wrote and co-directed LOCATION SCOUTS (2019), which enjoyed a run of international success, taking home Best Foreign Web Series at Florida Film Festival, Best Web Series at LA Film Awards, Best Web Series at Top Shorts Film Festival, Best in Show at IndiFEST Film Awards and Best Web Series at Global Film Festival Awards. Christiaan and his brother Connor won an ADG Award for Best Direction in an Original Online Project for BONDI HIPSTERS (2011).

Christiaan also hosted and co-wrote the feature documentary BIG DEAL (ABC), and co-hosted THE SLOT (Foxtel).

In the branded space, Christiaan has written and directed content for Old Spice, Virgin, Vittoria, Coke, Sony, Ikea, AMEX, Unilever, Northern Territory Tourism, Tourism Portland, Sydney Airport, and a Cadbury/MTV series that won the Astra Award for Most Outstanding Use of STV in a Consumer Ad Campaign. Christiaan also co-directed Sacha Baron Cohen’s 2021 MTV VMA’s acceptance piece in which Sacha performed as Ali G, Borat, Bruno, The Dictator and himself.

Christiaan’s work online has had over 150 million views including the musical comedy numbers ACTIVEWEAR, A SONG ABOUT BIRDS, THE LIFE ORGANIC, and AUSTRALIA’S DEADLIEST ANIMALS. He has also directed music videos for Tim Minchin, Briggs, and Kate Miller-Heidke.

Christiaan’s career began online creating YouTube videos, before he and his brother Connor won the Grand Jury Prize at the One80Project and created a 60-minute telemovie called SICK (2012), which aired on MTV and earned an ADG Award nomination for Best Direction in a Television Comedy and a development deal with Pivot (USA).

Christiaan’s acting credits include BLOOM, THE OTHER GUY, TOP OF THE LAKE: CHINA GIRL, THREE SUMMERS, STAG, and DOWN UNDER.

He is currently developing several projects, including a comedy-horror feature.
