Cathy Randall is a writer and director whose debut feature, HEY, HEY, IT’S ESTHER BLUEBURGER (2008), starring Toni Collette and Keisha Castle-Hughes, premiered at Berlin Film Festival.
Cathy received the prize for Best Director at Hamburg Film Festival, and the screenplay was nominated for an AFI (AACTA) Award, an Australian Writer’s Guild (AWGIE) Award, and was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award.
Cathy wrote the sequel to NIM’S ISLAND (2008), RETURN TO NIM’S ISLAND (2013), for Walden Media, which starred Jodie Foster and Abigail Breslin.
She co-wrote the feature TRUE SPIRIT (2023) for Netflix, based on Jessica Watson’s solo sailing journey around the world, directed by Sarah Spillane.
Cathy’s latest feature screenplay, SANTA WHITEBEARD was runner up in the Animal Logic’s 2021 Screenplay Contest and was one of two projects chosen by Dame Changer’s 2021 Project to Market Accelerator initiative to help finance outstanding female lead projects.
Cathy has several projects in development including three television series, two of which she created / co-created, and a feature screenplay.
