AP Pobjoy is an award-winning writer and director. They created, wrote and co-directed the original drama series HOMEBODIES (SBS/ Mad Ones), starring Claudia Karvan. In 2026, the series premiered in competition at Series Mania, where it was one of only two Australian works selected, and received a Special Mention in the Short Form category. The series went on to receive two Logie Award nominations, and widespread critical acclaim.

Previously, AP wrote and directed the coming-of-age series UNERASED (Screen Australia/Mashup Pictures), which garnered a Screen Producers of Australia (SPA) Award nomination for ‘Online Series Production of the Year.’ They also wrote and directed the television documentary WHY DID SHE HAVE TO TELL THE WORLD? (2021) which opened the ABCTV Compass season that year and secured AP an Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) Award nomination.  The film won ‘Best Film’ at the Mardi Gras Film Festival’s My Queer Career, and was nominated for the prestigious Iris Prize. AP’s short film BILLIE AND JESSE (2025) screened at Flickerfest, St Kilda Film Festival and the Mardi Gras Film Festival, where it was awarded Best Screenplay. Their shorts have earned nominations at St Kilda Film Festival, SAE ATOM Awards, and was nominated for Byron Bay International Film Festival’s ‘Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year’.

AP was the recipient of the 2022 UNTAPPED Initiative, supported by Australians in Film and Screen Australia, where they were mentored by producers Valerie Stadler (Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe) and Andrea Sperling (Transparent, But I’m a Cheerleader). They undertook a director’s attachment on the feature SWEET MILK LAKE (2025) and worked across development roles at ABCTV, Fremantle, VicScreen, Aquarius Films and Unless Pictures. Early on in their career, AP was also the recipient of the Film Victoria Screen Development Internship. AP’s work has also been recognised by The Guardian, The Age, Global Citizen, Stronger Than Fiction and RUUSH Magazine.

AP is passionate about stories that centre belonging and self-discovery, particularly through underrepresented perspectives. They are currently developing their debut feature film with script editor Matthew Cormack (52 Tuesdays, The Hunting, Jimpa) with the support of Screen Australia, while continuing to build an original and diverse slate spanning across television and film.
