Amy Stewart is an award-winning, AWGIE nominated screenwriter with a passion for comedy content. Since graduating from AFTRS in 2015, Amy has written for a number of TV series including Wellmania (Netflix), GoldDiggers (ABC), and Hardball Season 2 (ABC ME) for which she was nominated for an AWGIE. She has also worked in numerous development rooms including for Class of 07 (Amazon) and The Heights (ABC). In 2022, Amy participated in Netflix GrowCreative’s The Writer’s Journey Lab. In 2020, Amy received development funding for her play YOLO through Belvoir Theatre’s Shutdown Residencies program.
In 2019, she was awarded $30,000 in development funding after being named the inaugural winner of Screen Australia’s Pitcher Perfect competition with her dystopian comedy series Return to Sender. And in 2018, Amy was named as a recipient of Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer funding through which she undertook a placement with Matchbox Pictures.
Amy currently has a teen dramedy series, which she co-created with Matthew Bon, in development with the ACTF and International Emmy Award-winning production company Northern Pictures. She is also currently working on two YA series for Netflix. As a mixed-race Eurasian woman living with a neurological disability, Amy is passionate about creating and contributing to stories that represent Australia’s diversity in a meaningful and authentic way.
