Amy StewartScreenwriter

Amy Stewart is an award-winning writer. Amy’s recent writing credits include the second seasons of AUSTIN (Northern Pictures), and STRIFE (Binge), as well as WELLMANIA (Netflix), GOLD DIGGERS (ABC), and HARDBALL (Northern Pictures). She is also well versed in writing children’s television, having written on BEEP AND MORT (Windmill/ABC), for which her episode “Friends At First Snow” won a 2025 Australian Writers’ Guild Award (AWGIE), and her episode “My New Best Friend” secured a nomination. Additionally, she has written on PLAYSCHOOL (ABC), and worked in development rooms for CLASS OF ’07 (Amazon), and THE HEIGHTS (ABC).

In 2022, Amy was a participant in Netflix GrowCreative’s The Writer’s Journey Lab. Her talent was also recognised by Belvoir Theatre’s Shutdown Residencies program in 2020, which awarded her development funding for her play YOLO. She similarly received $30,000 in development funding in 2019 after being named the inaugural winner of Screen Australia’s Pitcher Perfect competition with her dystopian comedy series RETURN TO SENDER.

Finally, adding to her list of achievements, Amy was named as a recipient of Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer funding through which she undertook a placement with Matchbox Pictures in 2018. Her upcoming projects include two original series with Northern Pictures, as well as the children’s series CAPER CREW (Easy Tiger), and DANCE SPIES (Northern Pictures/ Netflix). As a Eurasian woman living with a neurological disability, Amy is passionate about creating and contributing to stories that represent Australia’s diversity in a meaningful and authentic way.
