Sophie Miller is an award-winning writer, director and producer working across film and television.
She is a co-writer and executive producer of the Stan original series THOU SHALT NOT STEAL (Ludo Studio/Stan), created by Dylan River and Tanith Glynn-Maloney and directed by Dylan River. Two episodes she co-wrote received nominations from both the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) and the Australian Writers’ Guild (AWGIE) Awards.
Sophie served as showrunner across all three seasons of the acclaimed comedy THE FAMILY LAW (Matchbox Pictures/SBS), also directing two episodes. The series earned multiple awards, including Best Comedy at the Asian Television Awards and Best Television Comedy at the Screen Producers Australia Awards, alongside an AACTA nomination.
She was also showrunner on the comedy MAXIMUM CHOPPAGE (ABC), which received a Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Award nomination.
Her short film SPINE (2013) won Best Australian Short Film at Melbourne International Film Festival and screened internationally at festivals including Seattle, Palm Springs and Berlin, as well as earning an AWGIE nomination.
Her work is defined by a distinctive tonal balance, combining warmth, wit and grounded emotional insight. She is currently in post-production on the Netflix feature film ALLEN, which she co-wrote with Daley Pearson and executive produces, and has written an episode of the miniseries SHAKEDOWN (Lingo Pictures/ABC), exploring the Robodebt scandal.
