Michelle Escobar is one of Australia’s rising stars in sports broadcasting a dynamic television presenter, journalist, and producer who has become a leading face of football coverage. Following her standout work with Optus Sport, Michelle now serves as a presenter and producer for the CommBank Newsroom, an in-house production unit creating external content across the bank’s major partnerships and sponsorships, where she has quickly become a key on-screen representative for the brand.

With a career that’s taken her across the globe, Michelle has delivered live coverage and in-depth reporting from the world’s biggest sporting events, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Euros, and the historic 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Whether on the ground in multiple host cities or anchoring from the studio, Michelle brings energy, insight, and professionalism to every broadcast.

She has interviewed global sporting icons such as Liverpool superstar Mo Salah, Formula 1 favourite Daniel Ricciardo, Tottenham manager and Aussie legend Ange Postecoglou, and Sydney Swans’ Errol Gulden. Her versatility extends beyond sport; she has also interviewed music stars including DMA’S, Nina Las Vegas, and Young Franco, showcasing her ability to connect across industries. Fluent in Spanish, Michelle regularly conducts bilingual interviews, expanding her reach and resonance with international audiences.

A trusted voice on Europe’s elite football league including the Premier League, LaLiga, and the Women’s Super League, Michelle has hosted The Women’s Football Wrap, Australia’s only dedicated women’s football magazine show, as well as Hungry Jack’s Football Bite. Her media presence also spans regular contributions to The Today Show on Nine, SEN radio, and 2GB’s Breakfast show Ben Fordham Live.

Through CommBank’s partnership with Football Australia, Michelle has continued working closely within elite football, delivering exclusive interviews and feature content with the Matildas and Socceroos, further cementing her presence in the sport.

Michelle has been trusted to host events for a range of leading brands, including Nike, Apple Music, Stake, and Optus’ keynotes, and has hosted conferences and major events alongside senior executives including the CommBank CEO and leaders from organisations such as Qantas and Origin Energy.

Before joining Optus Sport, Michelle sharpened her skills at Fox Sports and began her media career as a radio newsreader and assistant producer with industry legend John Laws. She holds a double degree in Journalism and International Business from Curtin University, a testament to both her storytelling acumen and global perspective.
