Belinda Chayko is an award-winning writer and director of film and television.

Belinda wrote on THE SURVIVORS (Tony Ayres Productions/Netflix), based on best-selling author Jane Harper’s novel. In 2025, the series reached #2 on the Netflix global streaming charts, ranked in the Top 10 in 85 countries, #1 in five countries and Top Five in territories including USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

Belinda was the co-creator and showrunner on the series FIRES (Tony Ayres Productions/ABC), which won an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Miniseries and a TV Week Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Miniseries.

Belinda was also the co-creator and showrunner on SAFE HARBOUR (Matchbox Pictures), which received an International Emmy for Best Television Series, an AACTA Award for Best Screenplay in Television, and a Silver Bird Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards.

Her other writing credits for television include PROSPER (Lingo Pictures/Stan); OLD SCHOOL (Matchbox Pictures); NEWTON’S LAW (Every Cloud Productions); MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES (Every Cloud Productions); FIGHTING SEASON (Goalpost Pictures); SECRET CITY (Matchbox Pictures/Netflix); BARRACUDA (ABC), for which she received an Australian Writers Guild Award (AWGIE) Award; and STATELESS (Matchbox Pictures/ABC/Netflix).

STATELESS, starring Cate Blanchett and Dominic West, received AWGIE nomination for Best Series, a C21 Media Award Nomination for Best International Miniseries, and a Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Award for Best TV Miniseries.

Belinda wrote and directed the feature LOU (2010), starring John Hurt, which screened in competition at Busan, Rome, and Palm Springs. LOU won the Audience Award for Best Feature at Festival International de Films de Femmes de Créteil, and the Grand Jury Prize at St Tropez Film Festival. Her debut feature, CITY LOOP (2000), premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.

Belinda has also made a number of award-winning short films.
