Jonathan Gavin is an award-winning playwright who has become one of the most sought-after writers for television. He wrote the 2009 telemovie Dungoona, which won the MTV/Optus One80 competition, and was one of the core writers on Network Ten’s comic drama series Offspring. Jonathan has also written on Party Tricks, Mr & Mrs Murder, and the second season of the critically-acclaimed drama Puberty Blues. His screenplay for The Beautiful Lie was nominated for a 2016 AACTA Award for Best Screenplay in Television. Jonathan wrote for Seven Types of Ambiguity and Cleverman, and co-created and wrote family drama Sisters for Endemol Shine and Network Ten, which is being adapted as a US series. Jonathan is currently writing in-house at FremantleMedia, and has several television projects in development.
Jonathan’s play A Moment on the Lips received the Philip Parsons Young Playwright’s Award, and has been performed around the world. Sleepless Night, has been performed in festivals worldwide and garnered numerous awards. Tiger Country and I.D. were written during Griffin Theatre’s Emerging Writers residency, with I.D. awarded the 2009 Mitch Mathews Award.
