Brendan Maher is a highly accomplished director whose strong creative vision has resulted in three AFI Awards for Best Director. His directing career in the UK includes Starz’ critically-acclaimed ratings hit Outlander, as well as Sky1 action series Strike Back and BBC World War I drama The Passing Bells. Brendan’s other international credits include: Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Spartacus: Vengeance, Upstairs Downstairs, Identity, Spooks, Spooks: Code 9, Silent Witness, Kidnapped, Farscape, Lost World, and the telemovie adaptation of Wide Sargasso Sea.
His Australian credits include the television adaptation of Tomorrow, When the War Began, Sisters of War and Dirt Game, the latter earning him an Australian Directors Guild Award for Best Direction in a TV Mini-Series; as well as The Cooks, White Collar Blue and The Secret Life of Us (Network Ten). Brendan also directed two award-winning mini-series, The Road from Coorain and After the Deluge, both of which earned him the AFI Best Direction Award. Brendan’s telemovie credits include the highly acclaimed Society Murders for Screentime and Halifax FP: Swimming With Sharks. Brendan in directing Seven’s Secret Bridesmaids’ Business in 2019.
