Iona MacLean is an Adelaide born, Melbourne based digital content creator. Focusing on fashion and beauty blogging, Iona creates her work at home – often in her front yard where she captures her distinctive sun-filled flat lays. She later chronicles the imagery on her newly launched website ionamaclean.com where she best describes herself as a ‘Digital Content Creator, Freelancer, Writer, Blogger, Self-proclaimed Photographer and a Model if Bribed.’
If she is not seeking comfort in her favourite dressing gown behind the lens, she is (less often than not) dressed and in front of it – styling her outfits, directing photoshoots and modelling labels she loves. She says the best part of the job is that she only photographs things that she loves, believes-in and wants to share with others in a creative way.
She studied Journalism at the University of South Australia and freelanced for print and online publications whilst studying. It was these experiences as a fashion writer that gave Iona the idea of starting her own blog. Thus, Meraki Blog was born. Meraki means, ‘to do something with soul, creativity or love; to put a piece of yourself into your work.’
Originally incepted as a personal style blog, it has slightly evolved over the years. From blogging photos of thrifted outfits whilst she was a struggling uni student to collaborating with brands and photographers she has admired for a long time. In 2019 Iona decided to move away from Meraki Blog and launch her new website ionamaclean.com in it’s place.
