Hannah Carroll ChapmanScreenwriter

Hannah is a screenwriter and is the creator and writer on Heartbreak High, produced by FremantleMedia and Newbe for Netflix. Heartbreak High was in the global top ten on Netflix for over a month following its release, with the series hitting number one in Australia. Hannah won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Award for Best Screenplay for her pilot episode of Heartbreak High, and was nominated for the Australian Writer’s Guild Award (AWGIE) for Television- Series, for the same episode. Heartbreak High was also nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Drama Series, and won an Audience Choice AACTA award for Best Television Series. Heartbreak High was renewed for season two.

Hannah wrote for both seasons of ABC Television drama The Heights, for which she was nominated for an AWGIE and a Screen Producers Award for Best Drama Series of the year in 2019. Hannah previously worked as a writer and associate story producer for Home and Away. For Matchbox/NBCU, Hannah is currently developing a comedy-drama series together with Romina Accurso inspired by the hit ABC podcast Snowball.

Hannah worked in the development team for Matchbox Pictures on their projects including The Slap, Nowhere Boys, Deadline Gallipoli and Glitch. She also served as a production operator on Downton Abbey, Whitechapel and The Borrowers whilst working for Carnival Films in London.

Hannah began her career in 3D animation, visual effects and post production. She has a degree in 3D Animation from AFTRS, and has held VFX roles on Iron Man 2, Tomorrow When the War Began and the Australian doco series First Australians.

Hannah has a number of projects in development.
