Cathy Randall is a writer and director who wrote the feature film script True Spirit, based on Jessica Watson’s solo journey around the world. True Spirit is produced by Sun Star Entertainment (Academy Award-nominated Lion), with Sarah Spillane to direct. Her first feature film, Hey, Hey, It’s Esther Blueburger, starring Toni Collette and Keisha Castle-Hughes, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was released by Disney Miramax. The film received numerous accolades including the Best Director prize at the Hamburg Film Festival. The screenplay was nominated for an AFI Award, an Australian Writer’s Guild Award and was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award. Cathy also wrote the sequel Return to Nim’s Island for Walden Media in Los Angeles.
Cathy has several projects in development including two television series, Shadow Hunter (a true life crime thriller) and House Games. She is also writing a screenplay, Siblings, which is about five sperm donor conceived adolescents in search of their biological father.
