What is the fee for an amateur licence? What are the payment options?

Within Australia, amateur rates are $120.00 plus GST (10%) per performance. The best way to pay is by cheque. Outside Australia, rates vary, so please contact us to enquire about your territory.

Why do I need a licence?

All the plays are protected by copyright and licencing laws to ensure that each time somebody performs the play, the playwright is remunerated for his or her efforts. It's illegal to perform any part of the play without a licence.

Who decides whether the licence is available or not?

RGM's licencing manager will check to see if a professional company has bought out an exclusive licence for your territory, and will do his/her best to ensure that an amateur group nearby is not planning to do the same play. Where necessary, RGM will also double-check with the playwright that he/she is happy to issue the licence. Please note that if the play has not had its professional premiere in your territory, we may not be able to issue any amateur licences for that region.

When I request a licence, what happens? What is sent to me?

Assuming an amateur licence is approved, we will mail you a covering letter, your invoice, and 2 copies of the licence agreement. You will need to sign both copies of your agreement and return them both to us with your payment. Back at RGM Artist Group, we will 'execute' your licence, and then return a copy to you for your legal records.
